How to make your car race ready
You might own a car and love driving, but have you ever wondered what it’s like to be behind the wheel of a racing car and competing against other drivers on a real race track? It’s an experience like no other, and it’s a world away from the regular driving that you and I might do on a daily basis.
That’s the reason why lots of changes need to be made to a regular car before it’s considered race-ready. Find out more about those changes below.
Performance chip
All modern cars have a performance chip of one sort or another, and that’s almost certainly the case for your car as well. However, having a performance chip and having a performance chip that’s suitable for race car driving are two very different things. The right performance chip is one that makes it possible to reach higher speeds and perform on the track as a race car needs to.
Fresh look
It’s also highly likely that you’ll want to give your car a fresh look ahead of the time at which it hits the track. As you can see from the image below, the car needs to look like a race car, and it can be colored in accordance with the rules of the race. It’s also possible to add sponsors and other types of decoration once you find ones that are adequate and beneficial.
New engine and superchargers
It’s also very possible that the car will need a new engine of some sort if you’re serious about converting it into a race car that’s capable of performing on the track. As well as a race car standard engine, you’ll also want to consider having superchargers installed on the car. These can significantly increase the amount of horsepower the car is capable of.
Roll cage and strut braces
Protection and safety are two things that matter a lot when it comes to race car driving. That’s why a roll cage is a must. A roll cage ensures the integrity of the vehicle’s cabin is maintained and the driver is protected in the event of the car crashing and flipping on its roof or rolling. Strut braces are also used to make the chassis stiffer and you can discover a range of strut braces here.
Tyres
Finally, you’ll need to make sure that the tyres of your car are able to offer the grip to the road that you’re looking for. When your car grips to the road better and you have tyres that are responsive and stable, you can handle corners better and maintain better control over the whole car.
As you can see, there are lots of changes that need to be made to your car if you want to turn into a vehicle that can perform on the track in a real race scenario. It’s up to you to make these changes if you’re serious about giving it a try. If not, at least you’ve learned something new today.
