Extend the life of your vehicle

If you love your vehicle, then you’ll hope to love it for a long time. Of course, nothing lasts forever, and there’ll probably come a point when you need to say goodbye to your car once and for all and invest in a new set of wheels. But there are things you can do to put as much time as possible between now and that day coming. In the process, you’ll enjoy lower costs and more fun in your car.

Ready to extend the life of your vehicle? Follow the tips we’ve outlined below.

Look at your vehicle’s manual

You’ve got the guide to keeping your vehicle in great health right in front of you. All you need to do is look at it! Most people ignore user manuals. Yet, while that might be fine for a new electric razor when it comes to keeping your vehicle on the right, it’s essential that you pay attention.

While there is obviously some overlap in how to look after a car across all models, your vehicle will also have specific needs. If you have some spare time, get the manual out of the glove box and give it a read — you might just discover something valuable!

Keep it undercover

If there’s one thing that will make your car look older than it needs to, it’s keeping the vehicle outside in the elements. You can’t expect anything to look a million bucks if it’s continually subjected to blazing sunshine, torrential rain, snow, and other extreme weather.

Even mild weather can impact the appearance and functionality of a vehicle when multiplied over several years. As such, you can go a long way towards keeping your car in tip-top shape by keeping it undercover whenever possible. This may involve adding a carport, keeping it in your garage, or investing in a protective cover, especially during the cold/hot times of the year.

Work with experts

You’ll likely know a fair amount about how to look after cars. And in fact, many of the things on the maintenance list you can probably do yourself. But there are some things that you can’t do because you don’t have the necessary expertise or tools. As such, it’s a good idea to look at working with an expert, who will have all the keys you need to keep your vehicle in tip-top condition.

The type of expert you need will vary, but in general, it’s best to opt for one that is an expert with your specific brand of car. If you have a Land Rover Defender, then hiring a company that offers custom restored Defenders will be appropriate; if you have a BMW, then a BMW expert will make sense.

Drive it well

Finally, perhaps the best, most efficient way to perverse the quality of your vehicle is to drive it correctly. You’ll wear it out if you’re continually pushing your car to the limit! Instead, learn how to drive it correctly, and keep it away from problematic terrain that could cause damage.
