Technology

If you think of Japan, it’s likely that you get an image which is at least partially concerned with technology in some form or another.

The Japanese culture is a highly technical and technological one. It is therefore hardly surprising that this carries over very much into the world of cars that they tend to make.

If you look into Japanese vehicles, you are likely to be struck by technology. Japanese cars tend to have a lot of interesting, advanced and technical technology in play. That is something that can be very attractive for many motorists.

But what kind of technology do Japanese cars have, and why is it special? After all, don’t all cars have some kind of interesting technological functions going on if you look into it?

While that is certainly true, Japanese cars do tend to have a different kind of way of utilising tech. A way which tends to make for a much more interesting and unique way to drive. It is in Japanese cars, for instance, that technology such as robotics manufacturing was first used, anywhere in the world.

This led to an explosion of car production unlike anything seen since Ford. It’s certainly an impressive claim to be able to make.

Ecology

Cars produced in Japan tend to be amongst the most eco-friendly of all the vehicles in the world. There are a few good reasons for that. One is the technological aspect that we were talking about previously, in particular Hybrid technology.

Hybrid vehicles are the result of global engineering efforts. However, a significant amount of development came from Japan. This is very much a part of the legacy of Japanese car manufacturing.

Similarly, the technology behind electric cars was developed almost entirely in Japan. This is something that is going to make a huge impact on how damaging vehicles are to the world in the future.

If nothing else, we can be certain that electric cars are eventually going to be the norm, and this again is a hugely impressive thing to say when it comes to Japan’s own legacy in the world of car manufacturing.

As well as this, Japanese cars do tend to be more ecological in their rating than most other cars out there, so in practice as well as in the engineer’s lab, you can see real evidence of Japan producing cars which are eco-friendly. This is something that we should all be glad of, and it is a real marker of Japanese cars which should not be overlooked.

Cost-effectiveness

Although there might be many cars out there which could actually be cheaper at the point of purchase, Japanese cars do tend to receive a lot of credit for being cost-effective in terms of what you actually end up getting for your money.

It is these which in the large part has made Japanese cars so popular around the world, so much so that it is often even worth getting Japanese cars imported to the UK and other places around the world, as you can see here in some detail.

With a Japanese car, you are very likely to feel that you are getting a lot for your money, and that is something that all motorists can be glad of indeed. If nothing else, it means that the vehicle is likely to last you a long time too.

Reliability

As well as this, and being somewhat related to it, Japan often produces some of the best cars for reliability, as you can see if you look at the world reliability index.

Many of the badges at the top of that list are Japanese ones, and it’s something to consider if you are wondering whether or not you should get a Japanese car for yourself.

Something which leads to this generally high level of reliability is the fact that most Japanese cars are highly technological, as we have seen, and in a way which generally means that they have an extremely low malfunction rate.

That means that you are getting all the mod cons without it failing on you at all – definitely something that you can be glad of when you are driving your new car.

Simplicity

Looking in some detail at the design of Japanese cars, we can see too that they do tend to be considerably less complex than many other kinds of car, especially when compared to German or American cars.

Japanese cars, for all that they are full of wondrous tech, are actually very simple in internal design, and this generally lends some credibility to their reliability too. What’s more, a simple car is generally one which you can fix much more easily, so if something does go wrong it’s an easier thing to keep on top of.
