BMW M8 nears production readiness
From the race track to the road: the new BMW M8 Coupe is rounding the final corner before production.
BMW M GmbH has been putting an early prototype of its upcoming flagship through its paces at the Estoril grand-prix racing circuit in Portugal.
With the BMW M8, renowned M dynamic prowess, agility and precision enter a new dimension.
Despite its size and luxury appearance, the M8 should not be underestimated. This is a performance-oriented vehicle concept with minimised weight, low centre of gravity, even weight distribution, optimum wheelbase and wide tracks.
M-specific optimisations further increase already high levels of rigidity in the body structure, chassis components and chassis mounting. M-specific suspension delivers exceptional directional stability, steering precision and cornering dynamics.
The beating heart of the M8 is a high-revving V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology. It produces north of 600PS.
To make sure you can put this power down the BMW M8 gets M xDrive all-wheel-drive system. For those more inclined to have power sent to the back, you’ll be glad to know this xDrive system has rear-wheel bias and even a 2WD mode.
The market launch of the BMW M8 Coupe will be sometime 2019. Further model variants are planned; being the M8 Convertible and M8 Gran Coupe.
