CUPRA Ateca already ‘Sports SUV of the Year’
Although it only arrived in the UK 8 weeks ago, the Cupra Ateca SUV has won the inaugural ‘Sports SUV of the Year’ category at the 2019 What Car? Awards.
Judges commended the Cupra Ateca for its unparalleled fun factor at a very appealing price.
The award arrives less than a year after Cupra became a standalone brand with the intention of offering even greater performance and design flair. The Ateca is the first model it has released; we’re definitely excited to see what else Cupra has in the pipeline.
Why the CUPRA Ateca won
Commenting on the decision to award the Cupra Ateca as Sports SUV of the Year, Steve Huntingford, Editor, What Car? said: “Cupra has managed to produce a car that’s every bit as fun to drive as more expensive rivals, despite undercutting them by thousands of pounds. In terms of smiles per mile, it’s unsurpassed in the SUV market.”

Undercutting the big boys
The Cupra Ateca delivers the highest performance of any SUV outside of ‘premium’ manufacturers. Its 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine offers up 300PS and 400Nm of torque.
0-62mph takes just 5.2 seconds and the top speed is 153mph. Its economy figures are impressive, too, with CO2 emissions of 168g/km and combined fuel consumption of 38.2mpg.
A stylish offering
The Cupra Ateca features unique exterior body styling, exclusive diamond cut alloy wheels and striking glossy black details. Even more impressive is the new copper Cupra logo and lettering.
Its interior features a leather sports steering wheel and black Alcantara sports seats embossed with Cupra logo. It also offers, like the regular Ateca, copious amounts of space for all the family.
Fully loaded
Standard equipment highlights include keyless entry and start system, wireless charging, 8-inch touchscreen system, Dynamic Chassis Control and Park Assist.
