SCORE – 48/50. This car has the shock factor, because the subtlety of the Volvo V60 Polestar suitably masks its performance capabilities. Most people pulling up against you at the lights are in for an embarrassing outcome. The Volvo V60 Polestar is, for me, the ultimate Q-car. Unsuspecting motorists; watch out!

REVIEW – Seat Leon ST Cupra 300 4DRIVE

SCORE – 48/50. I had a fantastic week with the Cupra. It looks fantastic. The Haldex AWD system is brilliant, and it’s a few grand cheaper than the equivalent Golf R. Being an estate it’s a hugely practical car, but with a small dose of lunacy thrown in for when you want a bit of fun.

REVIEW – Audi RS 6 Performance

SCORE – 48/50. There’s a constant rumble from the V8, which turns into a symphonious bellow as the revs climb higher. I really cannot do the RS 6 enough justice, the performance is electric. It must be experienced to be truly believed. On a full-bore launch, you can feel the G-force in your teeth. It’s addictive.

REVIEW – Kia Optima Sportswagon GT-Line S

SCORE – 43/50. I think the Optima Sportswagon looks better than the saloon, especially with the sporty styling of the GT-Line S. The engine is still underpowered, but the DCT gearbox is a big improvement. What makes the Sportswagon desirable is the comprehensive equipment list.
