I've had a 400d for getting on 2.5 years. Great engine yet the sheer size and bulk makes UK country lane driving super hairy as it drives like a SUV rather than a car - so I would reckon my previous e220d would be a lot quicker as the handling gave confidence to throw it around. Still it is spacious super luxurious and so good knowing power is in reserve. Regarding economy, I have only once ever recorded North of 40mpg prompting me to take a photo. Maybe on a long journey upper to mid thirties but for day to day use mid twenties is good going.

I agree with your comments. I bought one of these with absolutely everything on, including even an electrically-retractable tow bar. Its a great car and its got everything, with the curiously bizarre omission of a heated steering wheel. Even my lowly Hyundai Santa Fe has one of those!
